Off Grid Power in Boca Chica Panama

Here are a few pics of the power system that was installed in the first Villa on Boca Chica Island.

1 Off Grid Power in Boca Chica Panama

The developer spared no expense in creating all the comforts of a normal home. The power system allows for all 5 air conditioners to run at the same time, along with fridge, dishwasher, fans, lights, TV, and pretty much anything else you want to connect!

The setup includes 2.5kw of solar pannels, a 17kw propane powered generator, inverter, and battery bank.

While we were fishing the other day the dolphin gave us a show that we’ll never forget!

Finding Water on the Island

In anticipation of the buyer’s plans for Parcel 1 (more on those soon, but for now lets just say that fish will be caught.), we decided to go ahead and dig another well.

1 Finding Water on the Island

The first part of installing a water system is to make sure you have water available. Fortunately, we have plenty of that on Boca Chica Island.

The rainy season is fast approaching, and it won’t be practical to build more wells once that happens. Until next year, of course.

So here are a few pics of the initial hole that we dug. The are several steps to go to finish the water system.

First Dock On The Island Completed

The first doc has been completed on the island and like everything else that the Mango Bay developer has done, it’s gorgeous. It was built using concrete columns and beautiful Panamanian hardwood.

However, it wasn’t without its challenges. The difference between high and low tide in Boca Chica can vary as much as 21 feet.

In order for the pier to allow for this, a floating dock was built on the end, with a “gangway” connecting the floating doc and the pier.

Teak Everywhere!

It’s been a while since we’ve updated the blog, but that hasn’t been for lack of visits to the island. We have lots to upload, but for now, here are some shots of the teak floors and walls that are being installed in the villa.
