About Emerging Terrains

Island Interior

Once you set foot on Boca Quimera you will experience the unimaginable. It’s like being an explorer and stumbling upon an uncharted island.

Approaching the dense jungle you wonder if you will see something that you have never seen before. Entering the trail, you start to walk up hill ascending the islands spine and only when you peer through the dense canopy do you realize the extent of intriguing views from Boca Quimera.

Surrounded by Unparalleled Vistas

On the horizon you see the dark silhouette of the mountains to the north anchored by the volcan baru’s 11,398 ft (3,474M) peak. Eastward you look across the tranquil waters of the bay to Boca Brava and Boca Chica. Turning 180 degrees you peer westward across the channel to Isla Mono, Isla Loquita, and Isla Chapala.

The channel is frequently crossed by the boats accessing Pedregal marina in David and is the mouth of the acres of mangroves that sustain the bays diverse food chain.

Looking south past Isla Boca Brava towards the outer gulf, the smooth waters seem agitated by the surfacing dolphins and the dive-bombing birds.

There are many species of trees on Boca Quimera, some as large as 10ft in diameter, and many bearing fruit.

There are also several species of monkeys that traverse the canopy daily.

Outstanding Geography

Boca Quimera’s physical make-up is of volcanic rock, covered in dense jungle to the edges of the sea.

There is one large Beach area on the eastern side of the island; the sand is grey and there is a rocky point on the north end (Pictures). There are other opportunities around the island to create small private beach areas, but this would require cutting back the jungle.

Boca Quimera has its own fresh water spring located near the caretakers quarters. Testing by Bombasa concluded that the spring currently produces 60 liters per hour year around, with capacity for significant increase.
